How to Lay a Patio
Looking to lay a new patio? Here’s our step-by-step guide to undertaking the project.
Stage 1
The first step of any paving project is to mark out the area you wish to cover. You’ll need to consider the ground’s inclination and any potential obstructions, such as manhole covers.
Stage 2
Next, the area will need to be excavated. The marked out area should be dug up to a depth of 150mm below the desired finished paving level.
Stage 3
Once excavated, a heavy-duty weed membrane is fitted, followed by the addition of a crushed stone sub-base to a depth of 100mm.
Stage 4
The final step involves laying the chosen paving alongside a full mortar base across the area, bringing the paving up to the finished patio height.
